This experiential 4-hour training provides an introduction to somatic therapy with a focus on how to integrate somatic work into your practice, regardless of the models you use. Attendees will learn how to integrate a somatic framework into their case conceptualization, practice a number of somatic therapy techniques, and develop a process for integration of these techniques into their preferred style of therapy. Trainees that complete this training will feel empowered to begin using somatic tools with their clients right away!

Learning Objectives:

1. Understand the foundational principles of somatic therapy and the nervous system

2. Explore somatic techniques for increasing awareness of emotion and sensation, processing emotion through movement, and regulating emotion

3. Learn concrete methods to incorporate somatic techniques into your practice, inclusive of your preferred population type and therapy models

4. Understand and be able to think critically about the ethics of incorporating somatic techniques into other psychotherapy models
