Course Summary

We know EMDR is a powerful treatment model for change. How can you apply this model in an ethical and thoughtful way to promote lasting change within a couple's dynamic? This presentation provides an AIP informed approach to treating couples with EMDR to desensitize relational triggers, repair attachment wounds, and build emotional safety for couples you are treating.

This training is not only theoretical, but also provides a Couples EMDR Screening Tool, couples EMDR decision making tree, real client videos, and resourcing scripts to effectively utilize EMDR with couples.

Learning Objectives

Through this training, you will:

  • Conceptualize the couple’s relational dynamics through the lens of the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model and the eight phases of EMDR therapy.
  • Assess a couple’s appropriateness for each of the three established frameworks for incorporating EMDR into couples therapy, identifying the potential benefits, limitations, and clinical considerations of each approach.
  • Evaluate key clinical and ethical considerations specific to integrating EMDR within couples work, including attunement, safety, pacing, and therapist stance.
  • Develop and apply EMDR-informed interventions for use during the preparation and reprocessing phases to support dyadic regulation, communication, and trauma resolution.

  • Your Purchase Includes
